Dosti Luncheon Club

The Dosti Luncheon Club is a service offered by the Indian Community Centre Association (ICCA). They serve a thali tray of simple Indian food every weekday lunchtime for a low price (around £4). The vegetarian version of the meal can be adapted for vegans.

Mowgli

Indian ‘street food’ chain with a few vegan options

Calcutta Club

Modern Indian restaurant with a separate vegan menu.

Rikshaw

An Indian “street food” café and takeaway with several vegan options.

They only have around 16 seats so you have to take your chances if you want to eat in.

4550 Miles From Delhi

According to the Internet, Nottingham is 4,195 miles from Delhi so I’m not sure where this restaurant got its name. Anyway, this is a very nice Indian restaurant with a number of vegan dishes which are marked on the menu. The food is prepared to a very high quality and presented nicely. Staff are very helpful.

Although the address is on Mount Street, the entrance is on Maid Marian Way with the eating area upstairs (I think there may be some seating downstairs for wheelchair users).

The Balti House

Budget Indian restaurant with separate vegetarian menu and lots of vegan options.

Tamatanga

An ‘urban Indian canteen’ – essentially an Indian version of Wagamama. The food is very tasty and they have a separate vegan menu including 5 curries, a balti and a thali (for £16.95). There is sorbet for dessert. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable.

They deliver through Deliveroo and also offer a take-away service: phone in your order and pick it up.

Kayal

Kayal serves delicious South Indian food, which is quite different to the Bangladeshi-derived food of normal Indian restaurants.

Main meals come with a dosa – a thin pancake which can be dipped into various chutneys.

The staff at Kayal understand the needs of vegans and are helpful and friendly.
