Shivalli is a vegetarian South Indian restaurant with plenty of vegan options, including desserts. Dishes include idli with sambar (kind of like soft sponges made of rice that you dip into curry), dosa (big, thin lentil pancakes wrapped around a curry filling) and uttapam (like dosa but thicker). There are also more familiar dishes such as chana masala. It's very cheap - around £5 for a main course or £11 for a three-course thali.
There is a lunch-time buffet on weekdays for £4.95 and a larger buffet all day at weekends.
Shivalli is in the centre of town, on the inner ring road. If you're driving, there is a multi-storey car park just around the corner on York Street (follow parking signs from Newarke Street).
